Mr. Edward Earl Strickland Sr. of Slocomb passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Flowers Hospital. He was 65.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Burns Assembly of God Church with Rev. Royce Morrow and Rev. Steve Etheridge officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

 

Mr. Strickland was born October 16, 1949 in Graceville, FL to the late Forrest Edward and Jeanette Rolland Strickland. Edward was engaged in farming all of his life and was a great provider for his family. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, caring father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Judy Walker Strickland, Slocomb; two daughters: Jennifer Strickland and Amy Jordan (Michael); one son, Edward Earl Strickland Jr.,all of Slocomb; grandchildren: Heather Phillips (Josh), Renee Strickland, Skylar Strickland, Brittany Weeks, AnnaBell Strickland, Marlee Strickland and Justin Jordan; great-grandson, Joshua Phillips; two great-grandchildren on the way; Kalli and Caden; three sisters: Donna McCoy (Bobby), Fountain, FL, Trish Mayo (Arthur) and Linda Morris (Robert); two brothers: Gary Strickland (Karen) and Sammy Strickland, all of Taylor; sisters- in- law: Donna Clevenger (Johnny) and Dianne McDaniel (Randall); special friends: Nell Dawsey, Tammi Harris, Wayne Hall, James Pope and Ronnie Williamson; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

I was so heartbroken to learn of Edward's passing. He was one of my favorite farmers when I worked at the Geneva County FSA. Edward was a good man and a good friend. My heart and prayers go out to you.

As a Real estate Broker you would think I would live in Floria as he did.
No should Luck, It's snowing here in St. Paul Minnesota on April 6.
