Mrs. Hollis was born on February 23, 1941, in Phenix City, Alabama. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and adoring grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her greatest joy in life came from preparing wonderful meals and spending time with her family, making cherished memories with those she loved. Her favorite Scripture was Nehemiah 8:10: “Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Mrs. Hollis was a woman of great faith who loved the Lord. She was a faithful member of New Hinson Baptist Church for many years and dearly loved her Sunday school sisters. Her love for her family and her unwavering faith were a beautiful reflection of the life she lived.
Mrs. Hollis was preceded in death by her parents, James Reginald and Sybil Gibbons; her beloved husband of 59 years, Mancel Neil Hollis; her brother, Kenneth Ridenhour; and a granddaughter, Lacy Layton.
Mrs. Hollis is survived by her loving children, Robin Layton (Mike), Alan Hollis (Danna), and Jason Hollis (Kim); grandchildren, Chelsea Wojcik (Chris), Madison Rivenbark (Stewart), Anna Keller (Gaven), Jessica Hollis, Britten Hollis, and Aarshunni Curry; great-grandchildren, Manston Hatcher, Meeks Hatcher, Keller Rivenbark, Neil Rivenbark, and Ziva Keller; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Williams, Kevin Knight, Daniel Brown, Lee Brown, Mike Shinn, and Kyle Hovey.
Mrs. Hollis leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, and devotion to her family. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her love, kindness, faith, and the cherished memories she created with her family will remain in their hearts forever.
