Ava’s life reminds us that the measure of a life is not found in the number of years we are given, but in the love we share, the hearts we touch, and the difference we make along the way.
Ava Leigh Williams of Slocomb went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Flowers Hospital. She was 14 years old.
A service celebrating Ava’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb, with Rev. Michael Gibson and Rev. Jeff Harris officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Ava’s memory to make a contribution to Panther Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
Born on February 11, 2012, Ava was a precious gift whose life brought joy, love, and countless beautiful memories to those blessed enough to know her. Though her years were few, the light she shared touched many hearts, and the love she gave will continue to live on in the lives of her family and friends. Ava was a ninth-grade student at Slocomb High School, where she enjoyed the companionship of a loving circle of friends. She loved Jesus, and her faith was reflected in her connection to Panther Creek Free Will Baptist Church. She found happiness in the simple yet meaningful things of life, especially cooking and spending treasured time with her beloved family. To those who loved her, Ava was far more than a daughter, sister, or friend; she was a source of happiness, a cherished part of everyday life, and a beautiful soul whose presence made the world brighter. While no words can adequately express the heartbreak of losing a child so young, Ava’s story is one of love that reaches beyond sorrow and a legacy that extends far beyond her fourteen years. In the midst of their unimaginable grief, her family made the extraordinary and selfless decision to donate her organs, giving others the opportunity to live and offering hope to families who might otherwise have faced a different future. Through this remarkable act of generosity, Ava has left a legacy of life, transforming the pain of an untimely goodbye into a priceless gift for others. There is something profoundly beautiful about a life that continues to give even after its earthly journey has ended. Though Ava’s family must now face the difficult days ahead without her gentle presence, a part of her lives on in those who have received her precious gifts. Her life reminds us that the measure of a life is not found in the number of years we are given, but in the love we share, the hearts we touch, and the difference we make along the way. Ava’s time here was far too short, and she will be missed in ways words cannot fully describe. Yet, for those who loved her, her memory will remain a treasured blessing. They will remember her laughter, the moments spent together, the love she gave so freely, and the faith that assures them this earthly separation is not the end. While tears are shed for the years they wish they could have shared with her, they can take comfort in the promise of Heaven and the hope of one day being reunited with her in the presence of the Lord. Ava has gone from the loving arms of her family into the eternal embrace of her Savior. Her earthly journey may have ended, but her legacy of love, faith, and life will endure for generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Al and Lottie Cadell.
Left to cherish Ava’s precious memory are her loving parents, Jimmy and Sherri Williams; her sisters, Amanda, Nikki, Layla, Skylar, Jasmine, and Savannah; her brothers, Zachary, Owen, and Clayton; her grandparents, Judy Williams and Jimmie and Barbara Williams; special friends, Alan and Danna Hollis, Chris and Chelsea Wojcik, and Manston Hatcher; her beloved Panther Creek Free Will Baptist Church family; along with extended family members and a host of dear friends who will forever treasure the blessing of having shared in Ava’s life.
Though her days on earth were few, the love she leaves behind is everlasting. Ava’s life will continue to shine through the lives she touched, the lives she helped save, and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
