the memories she leaves behind and the love she shared with those closest to her will remain a treasured part of her family's story.
Mrs. Sharon Mavis Thompson, 88, of Dothan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Southeast Health.
A service to celebrate her life and honor her memory will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb. Interment will follow in Slocomb City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Thompson was born December 11, 1937, in Madison, Wisconsin, to the late Roy Albert and Arlene Harriett Ahrensmeyer Huntley. A woman of faith, she found comfort and strength in her beliefs, which remained an important part of her life. She had a gentle appreciation for the simple pleasures in life and enjoyed reading, sewing, and crocheting. She also had a special love for horses and was an avid painter who delighted in expressing her creativity through her artwork. Above all, Sharon treasured her family and the precious time they shared together. The love she held for them was a lasting part of her life and a legacy that will continue in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Thompson, and her daughter, Marian Thompson Wynn.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 67 years, Max Thompson; her granddaughter, Melissa Wynn; her son-in-law, Doug Wynn; her sisters-in-law, Janice Thompson Woods and Gail Thompson; her niece, Marie Thompson; her nephew, Brian Thompson; and numerous other extended family members and friends who will remember her with love and affection.
Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she leaves behind and the love she shared with those closest to her will remain a treasured part of her family's story.
