Mr. Gerald Lane Schofield of Newton (Wicksburg) passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle.  He was 84. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Scott Cox officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

Mr. Schofield was born April 5, 1938 in Pike County to the late William Dallas and Susie Baggett Schofield. Gerald was a devoted husband, father, and PAPA.  He loved God and his family.  Gerald enjoyed cooking for family and friends, loved spending time outdoors, fishing, gardening, and working in the yard. 

In addition to his parents, his loving wife, Patricia Ann Waters Schofield; son, David Lane Schofield; sister, Nina Schofield Fuller; and brother, Jackie Schofield, all preceded him in death. 

Survivors a daughter, Ellane Schofield Singletary (Ronnie); three sons, Johnnie Kirk Sanders (Jeanne), Delbert Neal Sanders (Renee), William “Bill” Matthew Schofield (Camille); grandchildren: Miranda Greer Wade (Clint), Nicholas Singletary, Samantha Singletary Barron (Whit), Jessica Schofield, Malia Schofield Santagelo (Chris), Brianna Schofield Wallace (Brandon), Hayli Sanders Holloway (Wayne), Madison Cox (Matt), Peyton Sanders, Chante’ Sanders, Courtney Sanders Perkins, Noel Sanders Ferguson (Trey), Matt Sanders (Courtney); 17 great grandchildren; brother, Mike Schofield (Fran); and other extended family and friends.
