Mr. Dennis George Green of Wicksburg passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at UAB. He was 62. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery, County Road 9, Newton, AL 36352. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.

Mr. Green was born July 7, 1960 in Columbus, GA to James Green and Mary Bowen Green Hidalgo. Dennis’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends whom he loved and cherished. He was an industrial machinist in robotics and automation. He was a member of Lighthouse Outreach Ministries in Wicksburg, serving in many capacities.  Dennis enjoyed fishing, hunting, gold refining, collecting pocket watches, pocket knives, and old coins. Dennis was well known for boiling the best peanuts around, both at the National Peanut Festival for over 25 years and at his wife’s business Nuts To Go in Dothan. 

He was preceded in death by his father, James Green, and step-father, Joe Hidalgo, Sr. 

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Kay Morrow Green; sons: Jeremy Chad Green (Meredeth), and Aaron Phillip Green (Desiree); grandchildren: Ryleigh Shay Green, and Alianha Lin Green; mother, Mary Hidalgo; brothers: James Dale Green (Renee), and Donald Jerome Green; step-sister, Karin Hidalgo; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
