Saturday, September 30, 1933 - Friday, January 28, 2022

Rev. Sarah Dean Tomlin, formerly of the Echo Community of Dale County, entered the presence of her LORD, Friday, January 28, 2022.  She was 88.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2022 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Bro. John Godwin and Rev. Michael Smith officiating and her granddaughters: Jessica Woodham and Taressa Trammell delivering eulogies.  Interment will follow in the Highfalls Assembly of God Church Cemetery in Hartford.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.

Sis. Tomlin was born September 30, 1933 in Geneva County to the late Julius Rudolph and Mildred Pate Dean. Sarah came to know Christ at a very early age and accepted His call into the ministry in 1963 at the age of 30.  She was an evangelist for a number of years and later served as pastor of Matthews Ave. Church of God in Ozark and Daleville Church of God. Sarah lived her life in anticipation of spending eternity with her Lord and Savior, family and friends who have already received their reward, and as many as will hear His voice. “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised!”

In addition to her parents, her loving husband of 70 years, Samuel Jessie Tomlin; and brothers: Billy Gene Dean and Julius Eudon Dean all preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters: Denise Vedder (Brenton), Dothan, and Shirley Tomlin, Dothan; sons: David Tomlin (Theresa), Echo, and Danny Tomlin (Lindra), Tumbleton; grandchildren: Lisa Bruner, Dana King (David), Catrina Tomlin, and Jessica Woodham; great grandchildren: Rachel King Hill (Logan), Payton Bruner, Taressa Trammell, and Slade Woodham; great-great grandson, Lincoln Hill; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
