Rev. Curtis Leroy Howell of Ozark went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 10, 2021 at his home. He was 77. 

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Magnolia Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Midland City with Rev. Steve White officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. The family request those in attendance to wear a mask and adhere to social distance guidelines. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Gideons International, PO Box 97251, Washington DC 20090-7251 in honor of Curtis’s memory. 

Mr. Howell was born November 29, 1943 in Geneva County to the late Ethma Arlie and Julia Florence Hagins Howell. Curtis was a man of faith and an ordained minister with Victory New Testament Fellowship International. He retired from Houston County Sheriff’s Department after 25 years of dedicated service. 

Curtis’s parents, one sister, Florence and one brother, Harley all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Linda Tharpe Howell; brothers: Johnnie Howell, and Donnie Howell; brother-in-law, Wilmer Tharpe (Paula); sister-in-law, Ann Crowley; nephews: Tim and Chris and one niece, Angela; other extended family and friends.

Tho not related we still had that Howell Thing going on. Not only was a confidant he was one hellva friend. You're at rest now and I look for the day we're reunited.
