Mr. David Hillman Reeves of Wicksburg passed away Sunday, December 28, 2019 at his home. He was 61.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2020 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Tommy White officiating and Patrick Reeves delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Mr. Reeves was born November 24, 1958 in Houston County to the late Billy Hillman and Annie Laurie Collins Reeves. David was a 1977 graduate of Dothan High School where he excelled in sports. He received a football scholarship to the University of Alabama and was a member of the 1978 and 1979 National Championship teams under Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. He also played baseball at the University of Alabama and was elected team captain his senior year. David enjoyed playing golf with his brothers Donnie and Doug. He had a passion for dogs especially boxers and his grand dog, Macie. David’s greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, one brother, Donnie Collins Reeves Sr. preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children: Ashley Reeves and Patrick G. Reeves (Molly); grandchildren: Bryant Berry, Brielle Berry, and Ben Berry; siblings: Billie Anne Lovrich (Frank), Rodney Reeves (Sherry), and Douglas Reeves; several dear nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
