Mary Louise Holman of Hartford, Alabama passed away at the age of 83 Friday, December 1, 2018 at Wiregrass Hospital in Geneva, AL.  She was born in Louisville, Georgia on March 31, 1945 to Ed and Julia Rivers.  She remained close to both her older brother Ralph Rivers known as “Buddy” of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and her late sister Jeanne Rivers Scharnitzky of Brewton, AL.  She studied radiological technology at Grady Memorial hospital in Atlanta, GA and after graduation was employed as an X Ray Technician at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL.

    In the fall of 1958 she met her future husband, Captain Jerry Pinkston Holman who was stationed in Homestead, FL serving in the United States Air Force as a pilot specializing in search and rescue.  Louise and Captain Holman were engaged by Christmas and were married on Valentine’s Day in 1959.  Louise embraced and enjoyed the opportunities the USAF offered through meeting new people and traveling. She fully supported her husband in his career in the USAF.  Louise and Captain Holman, adopted their daughter Julia Belle Holman followed by adopting their son Timothy Emile Holman in January 1966.  She was the grandmother of two grandsons, Holman Juszkiewicz and Brandon Holman whom she adored and loved very much.   After retiring to Hartford in 1974 she became an active member of First Methodist Church of Hartford.  In the mid 70’s through the late 80’s Louise was active serving on boards with Geneva County School Board, Dothan Mental Health Board, and Hartford Rescue Squad.  Louise and her husband were instrumental in all stages at  Hartford Retirement Village in the 1980’s.  After her children were almost grown she returned to work at Wiregrass Community Hospital in Geneva, AL to work for about 1.5 years.   She will be survived by her brother Buddy, her son Tim, her daughter Julia, grandsons Holman and Brandon, and numerous nephews and nieces. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Hartford Saturday December 8, 2018 at 11:00am. Fellowship  immediately to follow at Mrs. Louise’s residence.
