Mrs. Sarah Kate Belmont of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 26, 2015. She was 79.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb.  Burial will follow in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. 

 

Mrs. Belmont was born December 23, 1935 in Coffee County to the late William Johnny and Nettie Gavins Ward.  She greatly enjoyed spending time tending her garden and loved her pets. She possessed a kind spirit and was a faithful military wife.  She was loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed.

 

In addition to her parents, siblings: Ellen Hall, Jerome Ward and Linda Sue Thweatt preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, James E. Belmont, Slocomb; children: Deborah K. Mackey, Bisbee, AZ and James E. Belmont Jr. and his wife Zonda, Lexington, KY; grandchildren: Alexa and James E. Belmont III; siblings: Johnnie Ralph Ward, Slocomb, Louise Greer, Hartford, Johnny Paul Ward, Malvern, Jerry Ward, Hartford, Patsy Ann Steverson, Hartford and Brenda Kay Stanford, Newton; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
