Mrs. Charlotte Gavin Bailey of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 22, 2022.  She was 77. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Carpenter and Rev. Teddy Ward officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. 

Mrs. Bailey was born October 1, 1944 in Houston County to the late George Leslie and Pauline Martin Gavin.  Charlotte was a great woman of faith and life-time member of Union Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir.  She loved cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Geneva Farmers Federation Women’s Committee and was employed with the Geneva County Board of Education for many years, serving as the Lunchroom Manager for Slocomb Schools. 

In addition to her parents, a brother, Earl Mack Gavin preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Gene Hayward Bailey; sons: Dennis Bailey (Tammy), and Mike Bailey (Melissa); grandchildren: Alaina, Jaxon, Gillian, and Judson Bailey; sisters: Jane Gavin, and Twilla Thames (Clyde); sister-in-law, June Gavin; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
