Rev. Myra Jones

Monday, July 27, 1942 - Friday, October 22, 2021

Rev. Myra Jones of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 22, 2021, at Hartford Health Care.  She was 79. 

Funeral services will be held on at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 26, 2021, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Shirley Hatcher officiating.  Interment will follow in New Teamon Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. 

Rev. Jones was born July 27, 1942, to the late Kermit and Elberta Miller Greer. She was employed with Miles Furniture in Graceville for over 20 years and she and her husband Lamar, owned & operated Jones Oil Company in Slocomb for several years.  Sis. Myra was a great woman of faith and preached the “Good News” for over 40 years. She had a servant’s heart and volunteered in various nursing homes for many years. She was a loving wife, adoring mother and grandmother and she will be dearly missed. Proverbs 31:30 “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.” 

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Lamar Jones; her children: Jerry Jones (Diane), Lisa Jordan (Robert); six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters: Joyce Burgess and Bobbie Elmore; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
