Mr. Leon V. Keel of Slocomb passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at his home. He was 90. 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 in the Tabernacle Church Cemetery, County Road 85 and Hwy 123, Slocomb, AL with Rev. Johnny Strickland officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

Mr. Keel was born December 7, 1930 to the late Clayton O. and Onice W. Johnson Keel. Leon was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran and served honorably in the Korean War. He was engaged in farming for most of his life and was an avid fisherman. 

In addition to his parents, his faithful wife of nearly 65 years, Betty Sorrells Keel; two sisters: Jeanette Norton, and Sue Rehonic, and brother, John Perry Keel all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include two daughters: Glenda Keel, and Linda McAllister (Tim); two sons: Johnny Keel (Kay), and Bobby Keel (Paige); eight grandchildren: Sheila Weber (Jack), John Keel (Rhiannon), Ron Keel (Jessica), Josh McAllister (Laura), Billy McAllister (Blakely), Leala Birge (Harold), Clay Keel, and Brody Keel; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene Keel; two sisters: Martha Elder, and Myrle Maddox; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
