Mrs. Dorothy Jean Turvin of Wicksburg went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 12, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 66. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Wicksburg Assembly of God Church with Rev. Tim Simmons, Rev. Brad Richards and Rev. Clarence Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. 

Mrs. Turvin was born May 22, 1951 in Massachusetts to Dorothy Ann Simmons and the late Tully Simmons Jr. Jean was a loving wife, mother, adoring grandmother who possessed an infectious smile. She was a dedicated woman of faith and a member of Wicksburg Assembly of God Church. 

In addition to her father, grandparents, T.G. Simmons Sr. and Mary Claude Simmons; brother, Jack Simmons; grandson, Jonathan Wayne Turvin Jr.; brother in-law, Jack Hammock; step-father, Rudy Reigo all preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Jerry Wayne Turvin; children: Genia Kay Turvin Pitts (Ronald Nichols), Jonathan Wayne Turvin (Shannon), Matthew James Turvin (Lisa), Joshua David Turvin (Mandy), Larry Wayne Turvin (Kiley), Rebecca Lynn Turvin (Matt) and Haley Noel Turvin Devier (Dakotah); grandchildren: Ronnie, Alena, Lily, Joseph (Marissa), Bridgette (Jacob), Katelynn, Jonathan, Ben, Branton, Brinlee, Preston, Merrick, Courtney, D.J., Kelsey, Cassidy, Caleb, Sarah, MaKayla, Cayden, Patch, Shelby, Chloe, Aedan, Braelynn, Thomas and Carsen; great grandchild, Mason Jacob Davis; mother, Dorothy Ann Simmons; sisters: Joyce Raley (Tommy) and Maryann Bartlett (Mike); brothers: Alan Simmons (Pacita), Michael Simmons (Trisha) and Jerry Simmons (Charlotte) nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
