Donnie James Crawford, a resident of Slocomb, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was 54. 

Memorial  services  will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Byrd officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Donnie's memory with donations to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Youth Fund, 183 Pleasant Hill Road, Slocomb, AL 36375. 

Donnie was born December 12, 1960 in Houston County and reared in the Fadette Community of Geneva County.  He was an avid fisherman and loved to grill.  When he wasn't on the road driving for McLane, he was the biggest fan of his wife and children's endeavors.  He was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and loved the Lord with all of his heart. 

He was preceded in death by his father, John "Jimmy" Crawford. 

 

Surviving relatives include his wife of 27 years, Carrie Doyle Crawford;  one son, Cory Crawford (Molly), Dothan; one daughter, Karissa Crawford, Slocomb; mother, June Reynolds (Willie), Fadette; two brothers: Danny and Davie Crawford, Fadette; two sisters: Darla Crawford, Dothan and Christie Russ, Graceville, FL; one uncle, Lamar Crawford (Wanda), Slocomb; three aunts: Elaine Scarborough (Truman), Fadette, Louise Thomas (James), Fadette and Fay Douglas (Charles), Kinsey; several nieces nephews and other extended family and friends.
