Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Vinson of Slocomb went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Westside Terrace Healthcare. She was 90. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Ward and Rev. Ken Chancelor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. 

The family ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3176 Cumbie Road, Newton, Al 36352. 

Mrs. Vinson was born February 6, 1932 in Clay County to the late Abner and Zula Alford Thompson. She was a member of the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church, where she served with her husband in many capacities. She was a lady who possessed a sacrificial servant’s heart and was loved by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed the time she was with her family.   

In addition to her parents her husband, Jerry Vinson, a son, Neal Vinson, four sisters and seven brothers preceded her in death. 

Survivors include two daughters: Debbie Armstrong (Robert), Slocomb, and Charlotte Ward (Teddy), Fadette; one son, Greg Vinson (Pam), Dothan; daughter in law, Jennifer Vinson, Dothan; two brothers: Oscar Thompson, (Martha) and Eric Thompson; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. 

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Westside Terrace for their love and care that was given to Mrs. Vinson.
