Mrs. Carolyn McCullough Calhoun of Dothan passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Flowers Hospital. She was 84. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2021 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Scott Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in the New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. 

 Mrs. Calhoun was born November 15, 1936 in Houston County to the late Homer Lee and Ora Lee Byrd McCullough. Carolyn was an avid baker. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church. She loved writing spiritual poetry and doing crafts. Carolyn never met a stranger and loved spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed. 

In addition to her parents, her husband, Bill Eugene Calhoun; sister, Katie Smith; brothers: Robert McCullough, Billy McCullough, Benny McCullough, John McCullough, and Ronnie McCullough, all preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her son, Mark Calhoun (Pam); grandsons: Blake Calhoun (Hannah) and Brandon Calhoun; great-grandson, Barrett Michael Calhoun; sisters: Peggy Elrod (Johnny) and Patricia Rinnert (Michael); brother, Donald Ray McCullough; many special nieces and nephews; wonderful loving neighbors.

Carolyn was a dear friend to me. We worked together at Wal-Mart for many years. I will also miss our conversations on the phone as we kept in touch after our working years. Good-bye Carolyn. Rest in Peace.
