James Winford "Wimpy" Tew

Thursday, January 16, 1947 - Thursday, February 18, 2021

James Winford “Wimpy” Tew, a lifelong resident of Slocomb, AL passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at his home after an extended illness.  He was 74. 

Due to Covid-19, in lieu of a traditional visitation the family will receive family and friends, Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the home of Mr. Tew’s son, Wendell, 3212 Cotton Box Rd. Slocomb, AL 36375. 

James served in the Army National Guard, held many other occupations, and was proud of his time spent as a law enforcement officer.  He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them.  He loved to fish and hunt and went as often as he could. 

He is survived by a son, Wendell Tew (Beth); daughter, Melanie Clegg; three grandchildren: Zack Tew, Carrie Tew and Megan Waybright; the mother of his children, Malissa Tew and other extended family and friends.
