Mrs. Linda A. Cook of Hartford passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 69.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 in Darlington Baptist Church with Euvonne Carroll officiating and Jack Brush delivering the eulogy.  Burial will follow in Padgett Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. 

 

Linda was born on June 23, 1944 in Winter Garden, FL to Etta Mae Cardwell Allen and the late Rube Thomas Allen.  She was a member of Darlington Baptist Church. Mrs. Cook enjoyed going to church and singing in the choir. Her hobbies included sewing, reading and working in her garden. Linda’s proudest achievement was her son and four daughters, along with earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology.

 

In addition to her father, a daughter, Arlene Cook preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Cook, Hartford; children: Teresa Miller (Lynn), Defuniak Springs, FL, Pam Brush (Jack), Mary Esther, FL, Robin Simmons, Chipley, FL, Helen Shanes, Defuniak Springs, FL and Dale Cook (Laurie), Defuniak Springs, FL; her mother, Etta Mae McCall, Hartford;  grandchildren: Ryan Cook, Erin Hayes, Beth Fountain, Candace Dell, Patrick Miller, Garrett Miller, Tony Brush, Tyler Brush, Ashley Tapia, Michael Simmons, Jessica Nance, Lance Shanes, Brittney Odom and Dustin Odom; sister, Ruby Nell Drake, Hartford; twenty-six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

I just learned of Linda's death. I feel so bad that I did not know this before now. Linda was a wonderful friend and co-worker. She had a big heart and a loving out look on life. She will be missed.
