Mrs. Mary “Sue” Milburn Hume went to her Heavenly Home and met her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 15, 2026, while surrounded by her loving family at her residence. She was 69.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Reverend Juston Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the Slocomb City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00pm and continuing until service time.
Sue was born May 28, 1956, to the late Ralph and Mary Jane Palmer in Ozark, Alabama. She graduated from Slocomb High School in 1974. She was a woman with many talents. She worked for the Slocomb EMS as an ambulance driver. Sue also had an eye with flowers and enjoyed her part time at the Flower and Plant Shop in Malvern. Sue had a very loving and giving heart which was evident in her willingness to help others. She was a member of Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Sue had many likes, enjoyments, and loves in life but one of the most recent was spending time with her friends at Hometown Auction. She will be remembered for her strong faith throughout her life.
In addition to her parents; son, Jimmy Milburn; and her child’s father, James Milburn, all preceded her in death.
She leaves behind a loving family including her husband, Ronald Hume, Sr.; sister, Joyce Shirah Tew; brother, Randell Shirah; two granddaughters; two great granddaughters; one great grandson; a special cousin, Patricia Phillips; along with many other cousins and extended family and friends.
