Billy Wayne Peters

Mr. Billy Wayne Peters of Hartford went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 10, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 89.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb. Interment will follow in the Hurricane Creek Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.

Billy Wayne Peters was born on November 11, 1936 in Hartford to the late Preston Alex and Nettie Martin Peters. Billy shared 70 loving years of marriage with his wife Charlotte, a testament to their deep devotion and enduring partnership. He was a loving, hardworking, dedicated and deeply appreciated man, who consistently put the needs of others before his own. His time on this earth brought joy and laughter to countless life’s. He leaves behind several generations of family who will cherish his memory, carry forward his legacy and strive to live with the same greatness he exemplified every day. Billy was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and friend, who will be dearly missed. 

In addition to his parents; two daughters: Wanda Sue Peters, and Deborah Ann Peters Andrews; brothers: Alvin Peters, Hayward Peters, Winston Peters, and Murry Peters;  one sister, Myrna Peters Smith all preceded him in death.

He leaves behind a legacy including his wife, Charlotte Eloise Peters; son, Preston Dwayne Peters (Diana Smith); grandchildren: Charla Thomas, James Andrews, Justin Peters, and Casey Peters Webb; great grandchildren: Ashley, Nathan, Alex, Jase, Gabby, Issy, Ally, Preston, Bryson, Lilly, Ava, and Christian; great-great grandchildren: Braylon, Hadlee, and James; sisters: Barbara Peters Pullum(Kire) and Elizabeth Peters Gilley(Robert).
