Slocomb

Mrs. Virginia Killingsworth Swick, a cherished member of the Slocomb community for 92 remarkable years, peacefully departed this life on December 23, 2025.

Born on October 11, 1933, in Malvern, she was the beloved daughter of Frank and Eula Palmer Hall. Virginia's life was a rich tapestry woven with faith, creativity, and an unwavering devotion to her family. A lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Slocomb, her faith served as a guiding light throughout her life and relationships.

In the role of a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Virginia embodied love and compassion. The greatest joy of her life emerged from the many moments spent with her family. A gifted painter, she not only found profound fulfillment in her artistry but also fostered that passion in others by sharing her skills and enthusiasm in teaching painting. A love for literature nurtured her mind, as she was never far from the pages of a book. Additionally, her hands brought forth warmth through her sewing and baking, with her handmade creations and delicious treats generously shared among family and friends.

Virginia fell in love and married James C. “John” Killingsworth in 1952, and together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage until his passing. Even after years of widowhood, Virginia’s enduring spirit continued to shine, and she found love once more when she remarried in 2019 to Floyd Swick—a testament to her hopeful heart and remarkable resilience Virginia's professional journey also included a dedicated tenure at Sears, where she served for over 20 years, leaving an indelible mark with her strong work ethic and gentle spirit.

Preceded in death by her beloved parents, husbands John and Floyd, daughter Sharon Killingsworth Smith, and sisters Beulah Mae Clark and Robbie Collins, Virginia leaves behind a vibrant legacy. She is survived by her two daughters, Karen Peters and Kim Miller; her grandchildren, including Karie Lucious (Joe), Kellie Smith (Malcolm), Aaron Peters (April), Chris Brannon, Garrett Brannon (Delana), Eric Miller (Heather), Lindsey Anthony (Seth), and Joshua Miller (Jennifer); as well as 21 great-grandchildren and a multitude of great-great-grandchildren, alongside a host of extended family and dear friends.

A service to honor and celebrate Virginia's remarkable life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Slocomb, officiated by Rev. Brad Price, with arrangements by Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb. Interment will take place at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family invites friends to join them for visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., as they gather to share memories and celebrate the legacy of love and light that Virginia has left in our hearts.
