Mrs. Jeanie M. Spears of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord Friday, December 11, 2015 at Flowers Hospital.  She was 84. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 14 at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Dickey McAllister, Rev. C.M. Holloway and Rev. Scott Byrd officiating.  Mrs. Spears will be placed into the church one hour prior to service time.

Interment will follow at the church cemetery with  Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. 

Jeanie was born October 11, 1931 in Geneva County to the late Hardy and Vela G. Powell Donaldson. She was a graduate of Samson High School. She was also a member of the Adoniram Baptist Church where she led the singing for many years. During her working years, she worked as a saleslady with Avon, worked as a nurses aid, as well as a teachers aid, and was employed with Van Heusen and Kinder Care for a number of years. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. 

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Rev. John C. Spears, Slocomb; daughter, Stephanie Wood, Slocomb; sons: Stan Spears (Teressa), Malvern and Steve Spears, Slocomb; grandchildren: Loran Wood, Aaron Wood, Anthony Shiver and Lesley Shiver; several nieces and nephews.
