Mr. Jerry Royce Dunnaway of Slocomb passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at his home. He was 78.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014 at New Teamon Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Knight, Rev. Jeff Knight,  Rev. Huey Hughes and Rev. Lee Chorn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.

 

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to New Teamon Baptist Church, 3813 South County Road 85, Slocomb, AL 36375.

 

Jerry was born September 15, 1936 in Geneva County to the late James Wilburn and Amy Lucille Reeder Dunnaway. He served in the United States Army. He was also a member of the New Teamon Baptist Church and a retired farmer.

 

In addition to his parents a brother, Bobby Dunnaway preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include his wife, Ernestine Dunnaway, Slocomb; two daughters: Elisa Crutchfield (Bobby), Geneva and Emmie Reynolds (Mark), Dothan; four grandchildren: Jordan Rett Bailey, Amy Ryann Bailey, Alex Clark Reynolds and Addison Claire Reynolds; step-mother, Luna Dunnaway and the Knight family;  sister-in-law, Jo Dunnaway, Slocomb; two nephews and other extended family and friends.

I just heard about Jerry. I just spoke with him on Sunday. We won't be able to make the funeral, but do have plans to come in Sunday and will be there for a few days. My heart goes out to all of you. Love to all, will see you soon.
