Mrs. Thomley was born January 26, 1943, in Geneva County to the late Troy and Ruby Sasser Hall Thomley. Shirley, Miss Shirley, Mama, Nana, or Granny… whatever you called her, she was a shining light in the world.  She treasured her family, which she built, under God, alongside her devoted, loving husband of 65 years. She loved the 100 plus children she cared for, over a span of 35 years in her in home daycare.  She lived her life serving and caring for others.  Her life on earth was marked by love, compassion, and faith in God.  She was also and unwavering fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.  Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched.  Her family asks that you now remember the way she lived; full of love for others, and the profound impact she had on those blessed enough to know her.

Survivors include her loving husband, James Terrill Thomley, Sr.; daughters: Lori Chancy (Keith), and Tiffany Nichols (Scott); sons: James “Jamie” Thomley, Jr., and Jared Thomley (Katie); grandchildren: James Nichols, Ethan Chancy, Lorelei Chancy, Kayleigh Thomley, and Eric Chancy; sister, Sara Trott; other extended family and friends.
