Mr. Gerald Butler, of Slocomb, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Flowers Hospital. He was 81.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Sorrells Funeral Home chapel in Slocomb with Reverend David Zorn officiating, and Kade Deese delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.

Mr. Butler was born September 5, 1943, in Geneva County to the late Homer L. and Cloteal Sorrells Butler. Gerald served in the Army National Guard for 28 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and loved spending time with his family, church family and friends.

In addition to his parents, a brother-in-law, Huey Helms; nephew, Johnny Helms and great grandson, Wylder Kurt Davis, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Marie Butler; daughter, Lisa Jenkins (Curtis); son, Michael G. Butler (Rosie); grandchildren; Alex Butler Andrews (Brett), Katie Butler (Brenden McLaughlin), Taylor Jenkins Deese (Addis Kade), Bailey Jenkins Blessman (Bryson); great-grandchildren; Willa Lee Andrews, Tobin Knoxx Davis, Addison Deese and Kye Ross Blessman; two sisters: Nina Sue Butler Helms and Patsy Gayle Butler Mills (Jerry); numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
