Monday, September 21, 1964 - Tuesday, June 14, 2022

Mr. Billy “Mitchell” Morrow of Newton passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Southeast Health. He was 57.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 in the Piney Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Rev. Billy Fortune officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Morrow was born September 21, 1964 in Hartford, AL to Sue Carroll Dean and the late Billy Mack Morrow. Mitchell was taught at an early age by his father that a man was only as good as his word. This lesson served Mitchell well in life. He was a family man who loved to laugh and enjoy life. His favorite places to go were the lake and the Smoky Mountains. Nothing pleased him more than grilling or having a fish fry for his loved ones. In 2008 he found the joy of being a grandparent. Maddie quickly became the apple of his eye. Throughout his life, Mitchell always tried to honor his father and mother. The lessons taught by his parents enabled him to be a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed and the void will never be filled but he echoes his father’s words “I’ll see you on the other side” and ROLL TIDE.

Mitchell was preceded in death by his father, Billy Mack Morrow; paternal grandparents: Dewey Clayton and Leila Gilley Morrow; maternal grandparents: JT and Jessie Mae Thomley Dean.

Survivors include his wife, Lori Jenkins Morrow; son, Dwight Deal II (Gwen); granddaughter, Madolyn Jean Deal; mother, Sue C. Morrow; sister, Mary Catherine “Cathy” Buie (Herbert); numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
