Sunday, September 9, 1956 - Sunday, February 6, 2022

Ronald "Mack" Byrd of Slocomb passed away at his home, Sunday, February 6, 2022. He was 65 years old.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 2:00 and continuing until service time.

Mack lived his entire life in Slocomb, Alabama. He cherished his community dearly, supporting its citizens however he could. Though he loved Slocomb, he may have loved his Auburn Tigers even more. His favorite colors were orange and blue, noting that the Lord "must have been an Auburn fan, too, because he made the sun orange and the sky blue". He also saw his dream of having his BBQ sauce in stores come to fruition; something he was immensely proud of.

Mack was a loving and generous man; a friend to all who knew him; and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother James Clifton and Beatrice Alday Byrd; brothers, Rex Smith and Sidney Byrd; and a sister, Gwendolyn Byrd.

He is survived by his daughters, Mollie Byrd of Dothan; Mary-Morgan Robinson (Sean) of Dothan; his grandsons, Bodhi and Ferris Robinson; his loving sister and best friend, Pam Byrd (David) of Slocomb; his brothers, Warren Byrd (Holly) of Slocomb; Randy Byrd (Jodi) of Cleburne, Texas; sister, Barbara (Don) Hidle of Slocomb; sister-in-law Smithie Smith; the mother of his girls and dear friend Lisa Reid (Tom) of Dothan; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many other beloved family and friends.

Please consider making a donation to Slocomb Fire and Rescue in memory of Mack.
