Mr. James A. Rogers of Slocomb passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at his home.  He was 86.

 

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Wendell Holmes officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

 

Mr. Rogers was born on October 10, 1927 in Geneva County to the late Oscar and Minnie Adams Rogers.  He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army and was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.  Mr. Rogers was a retired farmer and cattleman.

 

In addition to his parents, his stepmother, Jessie L. Rogers; his wife of 50 years, Marjorie Newton Rogers; siblings: Thelma Bass, Hosea Rogers, Clyde Rogers and Eura Price all preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include sons: Donald Rogers (Paula) and Gary Rogers (Jeanette) both of Slocomb; four grandchildren: Tracie Taylor (Darryl), Blountstown, FL, Chrystal Bryan (John), Bascom, FL, Bryan Rogers and Ryan Rogers both of Slocomb; seven great grandchildren and other extended family and friends.
