Willie Joel Dorriety

Mr. Willie Joel Dorriety of Slocomb passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Southeast Health. He was 83.

Celebration Of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Tim Bedsole officiating. Private burial will be in the Memory Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.

Mr. Dorriety was born February 6, 1940 in Columbus, GA to the late Edgar Z. and Ruby L. Bedsole Dorriety. He had an extended law enforcement career with the Dothan Police Department. He also worked as head of security for Wiregrass Commons Mall.

In addition to his parents, a child, Billie Ann Walker; sister, Jane Reinbach, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include wife, Peggy Dorriety, Slocomb; sons: Matthew Dorriety (Josephine), Okeechobee, FL, Willie Dorriety (Shana), Slocomb, and Richard Long (Whitney); eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Martin, Panama City Beach, FL; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
