Obituary

William Douglas “Billy” Hatcher, age 29, of Cottonwood, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Hodgesville Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Ham officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 am and continuing until service time. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Billy was born in Dothan, Alabama, to Ronnie Douglas Hatcher, Jr. and the late Karla Patsy Burk Hatcher. After high school, he became an auto body mechanic, a profession he truly loved. Billy was known for his strong work ethic, energetic spirit, and love for staying busy. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and treasured the moments shared with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Karla Patsy Burk Hatcher, and his paternal grandfather, Ronnie Douglas Hatcher, Sr.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving son, Rylen James Hatcher; his father, Ronnie Douglas Hatcher, Jr (Bridget).; brothers: Marcus Douglas Hatcher (Blakely), Daniel Vernon Hatcher, Clint Vernon Hatcher, and Brady Lannis Hatcher; maternal grandparents, Larry and Patsy Burk; paternal grandmother, Rhonda Hatcher; nephews, Lucas Hatcher and Henry Hatcher; aunts: Sharon Hacher Griffin (Joey), Amanda Hatcher Johnson (Eddie), Kim Burk Barker (Keith) and other extended family and friends.

Billy will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love for his family, and the joyful energy he brought to those around him.
