Vera Vaughdean Smith

Mrs. Vera Vaughdean Smith of Dothan passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 at SAMC.  She was 82.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Mrs. Vera was born on July 29, 1932 in Geneva County to the late Harvey and Mae Tew.  She possessed a kind and quite spirit but was not afraid to speak her mind.  Though short is stature, she had a big heart and a great sense of humor.  Vera was devoted to the love of her life, Robert and was a faithful Navy wife.  She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, two sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Robert Smith, Dothan; one sister, Oleta Baughman, Erie, PA; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
