Syretha C. Ward of Dothan, passed away at her home, Wednesday, August 25, 2021. She was 80.

Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home Slocomb with Reverend David Grier officiating. A private burial will follow in the New Hope Assembly of God Cemetery in Graceville, Florida.

Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. and continue until service time. It is requested that everyone in attendance please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Mrs. Ward was born March 18, 1941, to the late Bud and Bonnie Brown Condrey. Syretha was raised in Graceville, Florida, and a graduate of Graceville High School. After graduation she studied nursing and moved to Columbus, GA. She moved back a few years later and married Ervin Ward in 1966. They would reside in Selma for many years until moving to Dothan when Mrs. Ward became a childcare provider. She was affectionately referred to as “Nana” by several children. After retirement she would find herself fully devoted to her family and would find great enjoyment with her six granddaughters and two great grandsons.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Ervin I. Ward; a sister, Shirley Williams; and grandson, Isaiah Grier all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters; Susan Long (Scott) Maylene, AL and Daphne Grier (David) Dothan, granddaughters; Ashley Mims (Kellen), Abigail Grantham (Ryan), Victoria Seales (Derrick), Faith Grier, Scarlett Smith (Walker), and Melanie Long; great grandsons, Silas Seales and Dominic Smith; her sister Sue Garner, and many nieces and nephews.
