Robert "Bobby" Winburn Helms

Mr. Robert “Bobby” Winburn Helms of Slocomb passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at Westside Terrace Healthcare in Dothan.  He was 84.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Coley M. Holloway and Rev. Larry Newton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Helms was born October 30, 1934 in St. Petersburg, Florida to the late Robert Oyer and Jennie Pearl Pelham Helms. Bobby possessed a great sense of humor and was loved by his family and many friends. He was a man of faith and attended Slocomb First Assembly Church.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Melba Grace Vinson Helms; and a great grandson, Jimmy Lee King III all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his five children: Cindy Tate (Don), Mike Helms (Sheila), Tony Helms (Sandy), Cathy Brannon (Terry), and Carla Woodham (Brad); 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Glenda Tindell (Horace); a special friend, Dot Davis; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
