Oscar Hulon Carpenter Jr.

Mr. Oscar Hulon Carpenter of Wicksburg passed away Tuesday, December 4. He was 62.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2018 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with his son, Rev. Juston Carpenter and Rev. Michael Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Carpenter was born November 21, 1956 in Houston County to the late O.H. Carpenter Sr. and Bonnie Beasley Carpenter. Hulon was engaged in farming his entire life. He loved planting crops and watching them grow! He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Hulon will be profoundly missed by his family, friends and community.

In addition to his parents, his first wife, and mother of his son, Gloria Smith Carpenter; brother, Randall Carpenter all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona Ann Thrash Carpenter; son, Juston Carpenter (April); grandchildren: Owen, Destiny, and Rebecca; sister, Sara Carpenter Woodham (John Doyle); mother in law, Jeanette Smith; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
