Michael Ray Jay

Mr. Michael R. Jay of Opp, Alabama passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Southeast Health.  He was 57.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 7, 2025, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Tim Simmons officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wicksburg Assembly of God Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.

Mike was born on March 8, 1967, in Alexandria, Virginia to Judith Ross Jay and the late Col. James W. Jay. Following his graduation from Wicksburg High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps and was very proud of his military service. After his enlistment, Mike started his own painting business and had a sterling reputation as a businessman, was known for his honesty, and his word was his bond.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Lundy Jay, Opp; mother, Judi Jay, Wicksburg; children: Tiffany Jay McCulligh (Patrick), Florala, and Josh Jay (Stacey), Opp; six grandchildren; siblings: Cynthia Jay Hatcher, and Kennth G. Jay (Regina); and other extended family and friends.
