Mary Nell Sawyers

Mrs. Mary Nell Sawyers of Slocomb passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at her home. She was 89.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Jimmy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Sawyers was born September 17, 1930 in Hartford, AL to the late John William and Sarah Mollie McClellan Dooling.

In addition to her parents, her husband of 60 years, Hovie E. Sawyers Sr.; granddaughter, Tiffany Amanda Sawyers; four sisters: Lois Lowery, Euna White, Aileen Keel, and Geraldine Peel; brother, Howell Dooling all preceded her in death.

Survivors include, her daughter, Sherri Wells; son, Hovie E. Sawyers Jr.; 4 grandchildren: Tara Wells (Jayme), Hovie E. Sawyers III, Tabitha Johns (Tyler), and Cody Sawyers, and brother-in-law, Franklin Peacock.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Covenant Hospice for the love and care that was given to Mrs. Sawyers during her illness.
