Martha Peters West

Mrs. Martha Peters West of Slocomb passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at SAMC.  She was 71.

Funeral services will be held at  11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Parker and Rev. Scott Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in the Slocomb City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until service time.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church, Slocomb, AL.

Martha was born March 3, 1944 in Geneva County to the late John Wallace and Eddie Lee McKinney Peters. She was a lifelong resident of Geneva County and was employed as a beautician for many years. Martha loved the Lord and was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, caring mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, her husband of 54 years, BT West; two sisters: Sara Grace Peters and Carolyn Peters Galloway preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons: Paul David West (Caylon), Slocomb and James Homer West (Kim), Malvern; grandchildren: Haden West Smith (Zalin), Malvern, Payne West, Malvern and Anna Layne West, Slocomb; siblings: Jimmy Peters (Sylvia), Dan Peters (Sonja), Phillip Peters (Betty), Gerald Peters (Dorothy), Bobby Peters (Donna), David Peters (Karen) and Vicky Peters Jimmerson (Jack); several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
