Marcelene Morrow, 86, of Wicksburg went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 6:43 p.m., surrounded by family who loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Piney Grove Assembly of God Church in Wicksburg with Reverend Billy Fortune officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.
Ms. Morrow was born on September 15, 1939, to the late Madison Harvey Peters and Bertie Smith Peters. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother "Granny", great grandmother "Great Granny", sister, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Earl Morrow, her parents, Madison Harvey Peters and Bertie Smith Peters, her stepmother, Myrtle Gilley Peters, two sisters, Bessie Gilley, Dessie (Short) Gilley and one step-sister, Juanita Thwreatt, as well as four brothers, Archie B. Peters, David Peters, Rudolph Peters and Jesse "Bud" Peters, one half-brother, Wayne Peters, two sister-in-law, Velma Hudspeth Peters and Flinnie Morrow Peters, three brother-in-law, Jack Gilley, Foy "Mot" Gilley and Charlie Fuqua, and one son-in- law, Dennis Green (daughter Sharon Green's late husband).
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law: Sharon Kay Green of Wicksburg and Tammie Teresa Barr and Duran Barr of Dothan; one sister, Lonie Mae Fuqua; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Robert and Lou Peters, Ronnie Peters; four grandchildren and spouse: Jeremy Chad Green and Meredeth Serna, Aaron Phillip Green and Desiree Thomas, Laney Barr DuBose and Cody, Courtney Barr Woodham and Justin; three great-grandchildren: Ryleigh Shay Green, Aliahna Lin Green and Reese Woodham, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks and much appreciation to Gentiva Hospice, with special thanks to Cindy and Victoria, and for the friends and family who have shown and expressed their love and concern during this trying time of our lives.
Pallbearers will be Chad Green, Aaron Green, Barry Smitherman, Henderson Smitherman, Brandon Pitts, Dwight Deal and Jake Mauldin.
