Lynell Windham Thomley

Mrs. Lynell Windham Thomley of Newton passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Westside Terrace. She was 94.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Grandstaff and Rev. Buddy Hood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.

Mrs. Thomley was born November 3, 1924 in Callahan, FL to the late Alva Cullen and Gladys Pouncey Windham. She enjoyed working at Sears for a number of years. Lynell treasured her time with her family and was a faithful member of Pilgrim Home Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, husband, Spurgeon “Pete” Thomley; sister, Jean Turner; niece Kay Payne all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Larry Thomley (Frankie), Hartford; her grandchildren: Carlie Cotton (Dennis), and Ashley Thomley; her sisters: Jerry Fulford, Clayhatchee and Sadie “Ree” Rogers, Melbourne, FL; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice and the staff of Westside Terrace for the love and care that was so freely given to Mrs. Thomley during her time there.
