Lonnie E. Hendrix

August 1, 1942 — January 3, 2018

Rev. Lonnie E. Hendrix of Dothan went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Flowers Hospital. He was 75.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Bro. Chester Lamar Davis and Bro. Jacob Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.

Rev. Hendrix was born August 1, 1942 in Geneva County to the late Lonnie M and Bernice Godwin Hendrix. He boldly preached the word of God for approximately 47 years. Lonnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary M. Butler Hendrix; his son, Johnny E. Hendrix; his daughter, Laura A. Smith (Charles); his grandchildren: Kellie Hatcher (Jacob), Bradley T. Hendrix and Caleb Smith; his great-grandson, Micah Hatcher; his sister, Willie M. Moss (Charlie M.) his brothers: Malcom C. Hendrix (Robbie), Jerry M. Hendrix (Jo), James L. Hendrix (Gayle), Roger D. Hendrix (Judy), Donald B. Hendrix (Rhonda); several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
