Mrs. Lola Virginia Ellenburg of Wicksburg gracefully departed from this life on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Flowers Hospital, at the age of 71. Born on May 29, 1954, in Geneva County, Mrs. Ellenburg was a woman of profound faith, whose life embodied love, grace, and unwavering devotion.
A cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, Lola’s tender commitment to her family and steadfast spirit endeared her to all blessed to know her. A proud graduate of Slocomb High School and a devoted member of Panther Creek Free Will Baptist Church, she found joy in the simple yet meaningful pleasures of life: cooking, tending to her garden, and most notably, sharing her remarkable gift of song. Through her melodious voice, she brought comfort and uplifted the hearts of many, embodying a gentle presence and a loving nature that formed the foundation of a life dedicated to her loved ones and her faith.
Mrs. Ellenburg was preceded in death by her mother, Rosie Lee Boutwell.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Joseph Gayle Ellenburg; daughters Tory L. Hargrave and her husband Walter, Tracy Ellenburg, and Amy Holley and her husband Mike; sons Gregory Todd Dorriety and his wife Misty, and Andy Ellenburg and his wife Stephanie.
Affectionately known as Nana, her enduring legacy is carried forward by her treasured grandchildren: Braden Odum and his wife Hayden, Shelby Sawyers and her husband Cody, Emma Grace Hargrave, Kasey Herrington and her husband Chris, Chad Holley and his wife Sydney, Jessie Tew and her husband Tanner, Adam Allgood, Blake Allgood and his wife Brianna, Caleb Allgood, Maci, Carlee, Connor, Maddie, and Kellon. Her joy extended to her beloved great-grandchildren: Cashden Sawyers, Carter Sawyers, Kalli Strickland, Lucas Herrington, Chandler Holley, and Tucker Tew. She is also mourned by her siblings, Gary Bruce Warren and Joan Warren, along with numerous extended family members and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Panther Creek Free Will Baptist Church, with Reverends Tim Simmons and Michael Gibson officiating. Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb is entrusted with the arrangements. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service, with interment to follow at Ellenburg Farm Cemetery.
Mrs. Lola Virginia Ellenburg’s spirit and legacy shall forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Her life was a luminous blessing, radiant with faith, love, and song. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
