John Eisenhower Hinson

Mr. John Eisenhower Hinson, a lifelong resident of Slocomb, passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 at Southeast Health.  He was 64.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Dr. J. Chris Adams officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

Mr. Hinson was born August 30, 1959 in Geneva County to the late Sam Hinson and Elmedia Balcom Coker. John retired from the Cotton Mill in Geneva after 20 years, and was employed with Southeast Health for 20 years until his second retirement. He spent free time helping his sisters, nieces, and caring for his late brother, Harold’s dog, Buddy.  John Ike and his good-natured personality will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, his brothers: Harold and Dennis preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sisters: Veda Laraine Clark, Debra Ann Clark, Maureen Elizabeth Hinson, and Sara Jo Braswell (Mike); nine nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be James Hinson, George Hinson, Jeff Wells, Coleman Clark, Ben Braswell, and Joseph Braswell.
