Joe Fred Wills

Mr. Joe Fred Wills of Hartford went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Wiregrass Medical Center.  He was 92.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Chestnut officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Interment will follow in Hartford City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Wills was born September 23, 1931 in Hartford, AL to the late Earnest and Mae Blalock Wills. Joe served in the United States Air Force and retired from Wallace College where he was one of the electronics instructors. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved his hunting dogs.

In addition to his parents, one son, Michael Earl Wills; two step-sons: Mark Bonds and Craig Bonds; several brothers and sisters; and the mother of his children, Pearl Wills, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Rachel Wills; daughter, Deborah Boyd (Mark Traylor); grandchildren: Chris Kelly (Hassie), Amelia Boyd, Dylan Bonds (Maggie), and Brad Bonds; great grandchildren: Joseph Kelly, Paige Kelly, and Kaine Boyd; daughter-in-law, Hope Bonds; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
