Jerry Ray Gilmore Sr.

Mr. Jerry Ray Gilmore Sr. of the Bay Springs Community passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at SAMC. He was 72.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Bay Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Gilmore was born on May 5, 1945 in the Bay Springs Community of Houston County to the late Charles Herman Gilmore Sr. and Lillie Rebecca Kirkham Gilmore. Jerry lived on the family farm his entire life and could grow anything. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed the simple things of life like gazing at the stars, sitting on the porch and spending time with his family. Jerry was a proud veteran and served in the United States Army Reserves. He was a man of faith and member of Bay Springs Baptist Church. Jerry was a loving husband and adoring father and grandfather and will be profoundly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Terry Thomas Gilmore; daughters: Ellen Gilmore Mayo (Kenny) and Dr. Erin Gilmore Bhatia (Dr. Gautam); son, Jerry Ray Gilmore Jr. (Karim); grandchildren: Adriel Esteban Gilmore, Ajay Dylan Bhatia and Bekkem Rian Bhatia; brother, Charles Herman Gilmore Jr. (Judy); other extended family and friends.
