Jeanette Smith

Jeanette Smith passed away peacefully the evening of Thursday, January 21, 2021 with the love of her family surrounding her.

Jeanette was everyone’s Granny and to know her was to love her. She loved her family fiercely, and her great grandbabies were her everything.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Amon and Mattie Smith; her beloved husband Jennings Smith, her daughter Gloria Carpenter, and several older siblings.

She is survived by daughter Debra (Randy) Speigner; grandchildren: Misty (Zane) Kelly, Juston (April) Carpenter, and Shena Hicks; great grandchildren: Zeke, Owen, Ella, Destiny, Rebecca and Zaven; and many special nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2021 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Juston Carpenter officiating.  Interment will follow in the Jellico Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday one hour prior to service time.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staffs of Encompass Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care for the love and care they provided to Jeanette during her illness.
