Janie Baxley Spivey

Mrs. Janie Baxley Spivey of Slocomb passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at her home. She was 83.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2023 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Dr. Chris Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.

In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 2376 Grady Garner Road, Slocomb, AL 36375 in memory of Mrs. Spivey.

Mrs. Spivey was born August 9, 1939 in Slocomb to the late Jim and Mildred Lassiter Baxley. Janie loved cooking and trying new recipes. She enjoyed singing, and playing the piano. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents her son, Donny Bolin and brother, David Baxley preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Spivey; grandchildren: Cheyanne Bolin, Laramie Bolin, and Dallas  Dowsey (Drew); step-children: Chuck Spivey (Christy), and  Donald Wade Spivey; step-grandchildren: Mary Charles Spivey, Harrison Spivey, and Lucy Spivey; sister, JoAnne Smith (Jimmy); nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
