James Benjamin Youngblood, Sr.

James Benjamin Youngblood, Sr passed from life on this earth into life with his Heavenly Father on March 25, 2025, at West Gate Village in Brewton, Alabama. James was preceded in death by his parents, John Green Youngblood and Johnnie Lee Waters Youngblood, from Tifton, Georgia. James was preceded in death by his loving wife whom he adored, Erma Pauline Odom Youngblood, who passed away on November 10. 2001. He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Ann Youngblood (Buck) Farrior of Brewton, AL and Pamela Carol Youngblood Hopkins of Hoover, AL; and his two sons, Stevens Anthony (Anne) Odom of Orange Beach, AL and James Benjamin (Belinda) Youngblood, Jr of Hoover, AL.  Also, by his grandchildren, Laura Leigh Farrior (Larry) Rambach, Olin Fields (Megan) Farrior; Charity Nicole Youngblood, James Benjamin (Samantha) Youngblood, III, Katherine Hope Youngblood (Jantzen) Lee, John Watkins (Cassie) Youngblood, Patrick (Vickie) Odom, Robert Odom, Chris Odom, Jordan Dyer, and Alex Odom; and ten great grandchildren.

James was born in Tifton, GA on February 20, 1934. He went to work at a young age as a sewing machine mechanic in a textile plant (pants factory) in Ashburn, GA. He continued in this industry and worked hard to become a Plant Manager at several textile plants, moving to several towns in the South. He retired from working as a Shift Lead Manager at the Sony Plant in Dothan and then worked for the Town of Malvern for about 20 years. He loved to racoon hunt and enjoyed raising and training hunting dogs, both Walker and Blue Tick breeds.  He also loved sports from early days when he played basketball, baseball and ran track in high school. He won the Georgia State Championship in the 100 Yard dash two years in a row. He developed a love for watching football and NASCAR racing on the television. He loved the outdoors including gardening and growing roses. James was a committed Christian man and served as a Deacon in the Baptist Church. He lived in Malvern, Alabama for 44 years until he moved for health reasons in 2024. He was a member of Malvern Baptist Church during that time. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; a hard worker; and had a wonderful sense of humor. He had a way of making people feel valued and important.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to Malvern Baptist Church, 161 Church Street, Malvern, AL 36375. Visitation will be Monday, March 31, 2025, at 12noon and the Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm, both at Malvern Baptist Church, Malvern, Alabama.
