James Branton, Jr.

Mr. James Branton, Jr. of Taylor went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at his home. He was 83.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 in Taylor Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Walter Birge officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Branton was born September 7, 1938 in Houston County, AL to the late Jim and Pliner Branton. James was a farmer for most of his life. He loved his family and will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, son, Shelburn Branton; daughter-in-law, Karen Branton; sister, Selma Kornegay; brother-in-law, J.W. Kornegay; brother-in-law, Grady Tindell, and niece, Denise Tindell Lassiter all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Geraldine Branton; grandchildren: Sheena Branton and Foster Branton (Heather); great grandchildren: Adeline and Emily Myers, and Jayden and Kaleb Branton; sister, Elouise Tindell (David); brother, Elijah Branton (Jackie); special niece, Jennie Branton; special nephews: Jacob and Joshua Birge; brother-in-law, Walter Birge (Rebecca) and brother-in-law, Harold Birge; other extended family and friends.
